Letter Home: October 8, 1918 Note the censor's signature next to the cross. Many of my grandfather's letters contain a censor's signature |
Dear Father & Mother:-
I recieved your letter quite a while ago but did not have time to answer it. I was wounded about [censor must have blotted out this number] days ago, but not bad, got a piece of shrapnel in my left leg just above the ankle. I am getting along fine and will be out again befor long. I am in the American Red Cross Hopital. No. 5. Paris. Still address my mail to the company as I expect to be back with them soon. With love I remain your son
